DUI laws
All states carry "zero tolerance" laws that target drivers under the legal drinking age. These laws penalize persons under 21 for operating a vehicle with any trace of alcohol in their systems (a blood-alcohol level above 0.0).
Nebraska state laws allow judges the following penalty options for minors convicted of DUI.
If an underage driver in Nebraska is caught with a .02 or higher blood alcohol content, his or her driver's license can be suspended or revoked for up to a year, and he or she may have to wait an additional year to reapply for a new license.
Nebraska alcohol possession laws effective July, 2010, stipulate that a minor aged 18-years and under may lose his license until his eighteenth birthday if he is caught with alcohol or marijuana on his person.
In addition to a driver’s license suspension, underage drinkers can face stiff fines, mandatory alcohol education and assessment treatment and ignition interlock.
